Licensing Qualifications

By law all sales of alcohol conducted on licensed premises must be authorised by a personal licence holder. In order to apply to become a personal licence holder, the applicant must hold an accredited qualification to prove they can sell alcohol both legally and responsibly.

The BIIAB personal licence holder qualifications provide candidates with essential knowledge of the legal frameworks surrounding the sale of alcohol in the UK. Because there are some differences between the licensing laws of England and Wales and those of Scotland, there is a requirement for BIIAB to provide two separate awards for learners. Level 2 Award in Personal Licence Holders

Qualification Overview

The Level 2 Award for Personal Licence Holders is a qualification aimed at anyone working in or preparing to work in any industry that involves the retail sale of alcohol. Itis a prerequisite for anyone who wishes to hold a personal licence.

 

Persons gaining this qualification will understand the main requirements of the Licensing Act 2003 and the legal responsibilities of a personal licence holder. Anyone wishing to sell or authorise the sale of alcohol by retail on licensed premises must hold a personal licence.

 

The qualification is based on the National Occupational Standards developed by People 1st the Sector Skills Council for the Hospitality Industry, and Skill smart Retail the Sector Skills Council for the Retail Industry

Level 2 Award in Underage Sales Prevention

Qualification Overview

This qualification is suitable for learners working in a variety of roles relating to retail or in licensed premises. It provides information on legislation relating to age-restricted products and how to prevent the unlawful sale of age-restricted products. This includes alcohol, cigarettes, aerosols, fireworks and many others.

The Level 2 Award in Customer Service

Qualification Overview

This qualification is suitable for learners wishing to improve their knowledge of the importance of customer service including how to satisfy customers’ expectations. It has been designed for delivery to all learners working or preparing to work in a customer service role and is applicable to a variety of work environments.
